Second solo album after 25 years for the mighty vocalist of the legenday Kiss. His first one back in '78 was great and close to the music of Kiss, with dynamic songs like: Move On, Hold Me Touch Me, Tonight You Belong To Me and lots of more. Paul had written songs together with the one and only Desmond Child and also Holly Knight and for the first time with Andreas Carlsson (Bon Jovi), as well as selected session players like the excellent black vocalist C.C. White, Macy Gray's drummer Victor Indrizzo, guitarist John 5 (who leaves his mark on Where Angels Dare), as well as ex-Kiss Bruce Kulick (here as a bass player). The chemistry between Stanley and Child, I always thought that it was a level above everyone else in the hard rock genre. The musical style of Live To Win has nothing to do with hard rock, Paul decided, this time, to revolve around new rock forms, modern rock, power pop with lots of Bon Jovi elements (Have A Nice Day era, but with less guitars), he doesn't follow trends. The album starts with the titletrack, Live To Win, a real Highlight, but not the only one. The tracks that truly stand out are: Wake Up Screaming ( my personal favourite) Bulletproof (with a different arrangement this could be a classic Kiss song), It's Not Me (Bon Jovi meets Kiss), Second To None (excellent lyrics), It's All About You (a powerful and up-tempo song). Live To Win is an excellent album, that likes immediately at first sight. One of the best album of 2006, Paul rocks!
