Perdition’s Light – Endzeit 2.0

PERDITION'S LIGHT from Germany is a project by Sorath (THORNGOTH) and Umbra (ATRORUM / NEBELKRÄHE). Self-released, in 40 minutes the two condense a thick black metal experience in this “Endzeit 2.0”.

This is an extended and multifaceted release, spanning away from the black metal core through other neighborhoods like ambient and doom, with modern guitar sounds. Even lyrics are non-conventional, mixing English and German. As this “Endzeit 2.0” on paper looks hard to actually work with all these diverging vectors, this actually stands on its feet as a whole, sometimes with better results, sometimes in a more trembling way.

As you hear, names such as SCHAMMASCH shoot through your head, without any of them truly describing the actual sound of PERDITION'S LIGHT. But what unites all these acts is their desire for musical experimentation. The band does not shy away from keyboards and synthesizers without falling into the cheesy side. Rather, keyboards provide an atmospheric soundscape that supports the songs in just the right places, in an impressive production of melting these tonal elements in a proper way. Everything has its own space on “Endzeit 2.0”, without sounding overproduced, as a certain layer of dust and stains is retained throughout the songs.

Traditionalists may absolutely find themselves in the wrong place with PERDITION'S LIGHT. “Endzeit 2.0"is a work that requires training time. Even taking into account the many years of experience of the band members, the result is impressive.
