Provocator - Antikristus Award winner

Provocator
Antikristus

And from Slovenia, comes a brutal Black Metal assault called PROVOCATOR, a one man band project that comes with its first complete album, “Antikristus”.

The efforts of the band is simple to understand: creating an aggressive, harsh and raw Black Metal, based only on vocals, guitars, bass and drums, sometimes fast, other ones slower and climatic, always somber and darkened. Ok, I have to confess that it isn’t the most new thing in terms of Metal, but it’s very good as always, remind something from ancients like earlier works of BATHORY (especially from “The Return..” era), BEHERIT, BLASPHEMY and MYSTIFIER.

The sound quality’s not on an excellent level (there are tracks where the quality drops even more), but when we are dealing with harsh and raw Black Metal, it’s not really a problem. But of course we can clearly understand the instruments. It’s not a fuzzy and chaotic mass of sound, please, nothing like that. The cover is just a rescue from 80’s Black Metal aspects, a business card from what you’ll hear, mind you all!

Using “The Exorcist” classical phrase as an introduction (“Let Jesus Fuck You”, the same expedient used by MARDUK in their classical Demo Tape “Fuck Me Jesus”), then chaos starts!

The album’s finest moments: the fast and harsh attack “Unholy Rape of the Holy Whore” (great harsh riffs and drumming with a constant and very simple tempo), the well worked “7 Storms of Eternal Damnation” (with changes of a slower pace to more fast tempos, with great and sardonic voices), the mid tempo of “Profanation of the Cross” (besides the drums do some fast pile driver beats here and there, showing a very good), the darkened and alternate “Black Star of Lucifer” (where fast tempos and slower ones combines to create a very destructive track), and “Antikristus” (a more easy song to our ears, with great bass and drums work, besides the sound quality drops a little).

Very, very good work, indeed!
