Psalm Zero - Force My Hand

Psalm Zero
Force My Hand
by Eddie "Deaddie" McConnaughty at 12 December 2013, 2:28 PM

PSALM ZERO is an Industrial Metal duo. They kind of remind me of a Metal PINK FLOYD. Their music is, in a word, interesting. The group is Andrew Hock on guitars and harsh vocals, and Charlie Looker on bass and clean vocals. This group has a spacy / hypnotic atmosphere about them. They’re not overly heavy, but just enough to really enrich their sounds.

“Force My Hand” is a catchy tune with hypnotic clean vocals and appropriately places harsh vocals. The music goes from a smooth ambience to a bit of a heavier Industrial chorus. Drum work is not really over complicated. The melody of the song changes enough so to keep the song from becoming a bore o the listener. This song is a unique work of art from beginning to end. It is a good song for when you are not in one of those extreme Metal moods, but still want to keep it on the hard side of dark rock.

“Willpower” is a bit different from the previous song. This song reminds me somewhat of Sid Barrett era PINK FLOYD, with a bit of a darker twist. There are no drums on this track, only what seem to be guitar riffs that are a bit chaotic and all over the place. The vocals are all clean in this one, which is good because harsh vocals would be way out of place, in this number. This is certainly another unique piece of art work.

PSALM ZERO so far seems like a unique interesting group. They show in just two tracks that they are capable of intermingling a variety of sounds and genres into one awesome piece of work. Another thing that impresses me is that this group is only a duo.  I will rate these guys at a 7/10.
