Technical Death Metal isn’t an easy genre to get into at all. The genre constantly evolves and fuses with others to change and become more accessible and not pass as simple fast unpredictable guitar wanking. PSYCHOFAGIST, fuse Hardcore and Brutal Grindcore into their formula that’s applied on the Tech Death sound, and they sure succeed and sound great.
Like most modern Tech Death albums, this one is weird at first listen due to the fast pace changes bands in this genre suddenly blast in our ears. Unlike BRAIN DRILL, DECREPIT BIRTH and other giants, there are Grindcore influences on PSYCHOFAGIST’s sound and that can be clearly seen from the aggressive onslaught in the album’s second track “Movement”, and the Hardcore riddled “Inhuman 3.0”.
The whole release is just beyond experimental, fast, and inspired. Any modern Technical Death Metal fan will find this album pretty unique and competitive for other bands. “Songs OF Faint And Distortion” is a recommended listen for anyone planning to broaden his musical horizons in Death Metal and know that there are others moving it to the next level.
