Klaus Schubert’s
ROCK BUNNIES is
Schubert’s project- band, and “
Speedmachine” is their first album. Now you are going to ask me who the f… is
Klaus Schubert? Have you heard of an Austrian hard rock band named
NO BROS? Yes or no the answer will be the same for any one of you. He is
NO BROS’ guitarist and main member and I must say that in their country
NO BROS are quite known and have a loyal audience. The best part is that he and the band’s keyboard player are the only males among (not one, not two but…)four women behind the vocals , the guitars, the bass and the drums! Talk about a man’s fantasy becoming real!
Generally speaking, the album is one of the good ones. Good riffs, warm vocals, some good tunes, a keyboardist much inspired by
Deep Purple(pay attention to the last track, reminds you of something?) and
Uriah Heep, a strong scent of blues-ish feeling and we got ourselves a good deal. Or so we think so. There is always a “but” that messes things up. Missing no talent, the band seems a little bit lost and withoutan identity. Trapped inside their ownmusical inspirations, the
ROCK BUNNIES are still trying to find their own unique style. A style that will probably make them stand out among other hard rock groups playing the usual hard rock melodies.
Overall, “
Speedmachine” is an album that I would much enjoy in the nearest hard rock joint, with the company of a good whisky in my cup . But nothing more than that. Let’s hope that in their second album they will decide to leave the safe paths they are walking on and they will get their hands “a little bit more dirty”.
