RAVENIA is a Symphonic Metal band from Finland founded December 2013 by Armi Päivinen and Samuli Reinikainen. Päivinen also share vocal duties with the band IN SILENTIO NOCTIS as well. Their EP was released just recently.
“Neverending” explodes with power rhythms, beautiful orchestration, larger than life guitaring. Gentle piano, violins like orchestra performance & huge mega power drums / guitars. Päivinen delivers her tremendous vocal efforts, sounding similar to early NIGHTWISH and WITHIN TEMPTATION. I like the mixture of Metal styles within the songs, great diversity, an impressive Symphonic Metal track. “Wingless” exhilarated with prolific opera type singing, gentleness and deepness. Furthermore, vocals might send a softer message, yet the entire instrumental package is theatrical, romantic and charming. There is a Progressive Metal vibe, yet extraordinary and highly addictive. It wasn't that hard to fall for this one.
RAVENIA's EP is very good played with full of melody, with symphonic elements and new ideas. Their influences are bands such as NIGHTWISH, WITHIN TEMPTATION, XANDRIA among others within the majestic melodic Metal. It would be great to experience a full length.
