Razorblade - Seeds Of Deception (CD)

Razorblade
Seeds Of Deception
by Michael Dalakos at 21 January 2007, 10:51 AM

Italy is one of the most productive countries in the Mediterranean when it comes to heavy metal. I would be impressed if there's a person out there knowing how many acts spawn on monthly basis from the spaghetti land… as in all occasions not all the bands are interesting for the average listener.
RAZORBLADE is not a brand new act: formed in May 2001 they have already released a demo back in 2005 (First Cut), while they have performed numerous times across their country. Seeds Of Deception is their second demo. Their style will bring in mind the first two releases of the so beloved fellow countrymen LABYRINTH. A mixture of melodic power metal and a dash of progressive / technical metal, covered up with extremely melodic vocal lines. I know what you will say: we have heard this all before. Yes it's true that RAZORBLADE are not offering something innovating. Still they are quite talented players and they have time on their side.
My suggestion to them: skip the majority of fast parts. Playing fast is the usual trap to sound like everyone else. Here's a fine example: the first track Speed Of Time (Abstraction is an intro) is a good tune, fast paced and a bit boring. BUT during the middle part brake of the song the guys really deliver tons of melody. Thumbs up for this.
In conclusion this seems to be an interesting band that fans of Europower should keep a close eye upon them. They have a lot to learn but they are definitely on a right path.
