Red Eyes - Obey The Beast

Red Eyes
Obey The Beast
by Eldad "Blacknasa" Stainbook at 03 December 2012, 8:36 PM

Got to say that I don’t know many bands from Netherlands, so I did a little research on the internet and according some sites there are something close to 130 Metal bands in Netherlands, for instance in Norway there are 420 registered bands, so you can understand my astonishment reviewing a Metal band from Netherlands, btw I do know some Dutch bands like EPICA for instance.

RED EYE claim that they deliver The New Wave of Amsterdam Heavy Metal. In order to understand, their music shares old school Heavy Metal with contemporary means and sound. Old school Metal is one off my favorite genres so I’m delighted to try and display my review.

Right from the first  listen to the album I was caught by surprise as the album reminded me of ARK’s“Burn The Sun”  masterpiece. It’s sophisticated Metal, old school with pinch of new age, 100% of what the band promised. At least they got the description right. I think that most people will find this album to be "something different" that is a good thing. RED EYE takes many ingredients and endues a nice stew, they add to this poach some of their constituents, for instance, the distinct sound on all of the songs while the rough vocals of Lucas Pruim fit perfectly in the music.

I don't think that the album is a masterpiece however it's a start of a ground breaking sound from the Netherlands. I sure hope to follow this band in the years to comes to see where they will head. Noticeable songs "Crash", "Obey The Beast" and "White Horizon", I also mentioned a few earlier.
