Redwest - Crimson Renegade Award winner

Redwest
Crimson Renegade
by Marcos "Big Daddy" Garcia at 04 September 2016, 6:01 AM

Sometimes, some musical works really can astonish us all. This is due the disparity of the visual/lyrical concept that permeates a band's music. But it doesn't mean that the songs are bad…no, not at all. The Italian sextet REDWEST is a band that can astonish many Metal fans due their mix between cowboy themes and visuals with heavy music. But don't get me wrong, because "Crimson Renegade" is really a good album. They mix some influences of Southern/Groove Metal and some doses of Hard Rock, and some electronic effects, so their music is really hooking for our ears and hearts. They label their musical style as Spaghetti Western Metal, a cultural reference for old Western films from Italian cinema from decades ago (and they were really good, mind you all). So their music is excellent, but extremely funny as well.

The sound quality of the album is really very good, with clear and heavy tunes on each musical instrument; the vocals are all in their due places. The overall aspect is heavy, and the band's musical work can be enjoyed at its best. Musically accessible in due doses, modern and really full of Western music references, "Crimson Renegade" is really a very good experience for us all.

Their best shots: the fine and charming "Crimson Renegade" (with very good vocals, and some feeling that takes our minds back to some Django films from the past), the very good melodies and modern atmosphere that permeate "C.F.H" (that means "Cowboys From Hell", but for obvious reason, the used the name in this way. But the song has an excellent chorus, very good vocals duets between male and female voices, and a fine work from guitars, with very good solos), the excellent song with a taste of sand, sour and dust called "The Ballad of Eddie W", the savage melodies and strong work from bass and drums heard on "Bullet Rain," the excellent vocals arrangements and tempo changes shown on "The Dreamcatcher," and the high spirit that is presented on "Poker." The entire album is really great! Listen it, and have a very good time!
