Somebody has just introduced me to Sludge lately, and it happened to be such an appealing genre for me. REGARDE LES HOMMES TOMBER is, as the name suggests, a French band blending elements of Doom, Post-Black Metal, and Sludge, creating a quite unique combination. This LP is by the way their very first release, yet still it shows a great maturity in the music.
As it's the definition of sludge, a slow Doomish rhythm meets overly-distorted guitars and impressively-harsh vocals creating a solid, sinister sound. This can be heard mostly in the "Prelude", the title track, and "A Thousand Years Of Servitude". However, some tracks are more Black Metal-oriented, mainly "Ov Flames, Flesh And Sins". The band's musicianship is very impressive and the vocalist delivers an outstanding performance.
The LP is available digitally on the band's homepage; check it out, a highly recommended release for Sludge fans.
