Reserving Dirtnaps – Another Disaster

Reserving Dirtnaps
Another Disaster
by Thomas Kumke at 21 September 2020, 3:00 PM

RESERVING DIRTNAPS hailing from Memphis, Tennessee are a metallic Hardcore band. They released their self-named debut EP back in 2014. Since then they released one more EP and a single in collaboration with Memphis rapper Tom Skeemask. In 2019, RESERVING DIRTNAPS signed for War Records, a Los Angeles based label owned by Andrew Kline (STRIFE). “Another Disaster” is the first release for that label. It was recorded live at A.B. Recordings and mastered by Brad Boatright (ex-From Ashes Rise) back in 2019. It has a total length of a bit more than 11 minutes.

This EP may only be a short release but it is an 11 minutes kick-in-your-face slap. It is heavy, it is brutal, it is aggressive! It starts with the fast “Sleepless” where the guitar riffs rip through the song accompanied by hammering drums and crashing bass. “Under Siege” just continues like that. Both songs include transitions to mid-tempo with banging rhythms and raw power. The double-bass drum part in “Under Siege” gives the song some extra brutality.

Blood On The Walls” varies pace throughout and the use of backing vocals right from the start makes the song sounding even more aggressive. The contribution of Patric Gardner as guest vocalist is absolutely instrumental for the heaviness and brutality of “Blood On The Walls”. “The Floods” is a frantic finale where RESERVING DIRTNAPS are firing from all cylinders.

Another Disaster” is a combination of Metal and Hardcore. While the sound is pretty much metal dominated, Brandon Pearce on vocals gives RESERVING DIRTNAPS a typical Hardcore note. Listening to his vocal style reminded me on Roger Miret (AGNOSTIC FRONT). The live recording of “Another Disaster” adds to the rawness of the sound. While the production of the EP is solid, there is no official video release yet. Hardcore (and certainly more than a few Metal fans) will like what they hear, and, given that the EP only contains 11 minutes of new material, will look forward to a full-length album in the future.
