RESONANCE ROOM from Italy released their second full-length, “Untouchable Failure”, just recently through My Kingdom Music; it’s a sophisticated mix of Progressive Heavy and Dark Metal with strong influences from bands like ANATHEMA, KATATONIA, PAIN OF SALVATION and PORCUPINE TREE. That sounds quite interesting.
Yet, they have very much improved from their previous release “Unspoken”, this time there are more diverse materials, further gloom melodies, darker atmosphere even although , I wish the whole album was much more heavier and dynamic like “Unending Loss”. However, the “Untouchable Failure” project contains ten tracks mostly playing in five and seven minutes along with cumbersome environment and hefty riffs (outcome of Doom Metal) while keeping a rather mystical and solemn music (inherited from Gothic Metal). Some titles are enchanted and haunting like presence of keyboards in “Naivety and Oblivion”, the acoustic guitar of “Promotheus”,Alessandro Consoli's good voice in “The Great Insomnia”and soreness being in ”New Life”.
Regarding their efforts to afford us the opportunity to live the short dysphonic experience in “Untouchable Failure”, nonetheless, there is a lack of originality.
