Return From The Grave - Gates Of Nowhere Award winner

Return From The Grave
Gates Of Nowhere
by Matt "Wolverine" Johnson at 08 September 2014, 4:26 PM

Those heavy bass lines. Those pounding guitar riffs. Those cymbal crashes. In terms of Doom Metal, they're staples. What RETURN FROM THE GRAVE, the gentlemen from Venice, Italy, have done is taken traditional elements of that genre and had their way with them. And with amazing results, I will add.

This high-energy album has some great attributes to it and the listener can get the feel of a very tangible BLACK SABBATH presence. The mood in each song carries such a heavy depth and my ears were genuinely taken for a ride. I found the vocals to be extremely satisfying through both the highs and the lows. The production is very pure and I found it remarkable that "Gates of Nowhere" was recorded entirely in analog. Not to be taken for granted, the overall sound was very progressive and left nothing behind.

If you're looking for a way to add some extra depth to the music and have some fun, put this album on during a thunderstorm, sit back, and jam!
