It seems the United Kingdom has much more than teas and biscuits to offer us on such a catastrophic year. REX SHACHATH, while residing in the underground lairs of Metal send us an EP that’s a little better than average I guess. “Sepulchral Torment”, the band’s debut release is bound within the Death Metal genre and presents us with many entertaining elements; although, the content can become a little mediocre over time.
This release can be described as aggressive, evil, and energetic as hell. One fact I loved about this release is that beside the regular Death Metal formula, you can feel something evil behind the music, a certain inspiration to the music. Songs like “Follow the Bastard Prophet” prove my point. The vocals also feel a little better than a lot of Death Metal releases I’ve heard this year like the horribly average release by DYSTOPIA that left my ears bleeding.
Overall, it’s not a recommended release by all means, but definitely worth it if you’re able to give it a listen. It’s an EP and not a full length, so it’ll make a nice listen at your lunch break in office or… prison break.
