Rizon - Prime Time Award winner

Prime Time
by Sarah Tijan at 14 April 2022, 10:59 PM

Prime Time! A perfect title for RIZON’S fifth album release, the title does not disappoint. The band has certainly claimed 2022, and brought the album to back up that claim, with two vocalists, and a 12-track disk full of everything you’d want and more out of a Melodic rock album, full of surprises and unique sounds throughout.

Prime Time starts out with “Truth or Consequences” a melodic masterpiece filled with the riffs, and oh-so-catchy sound that you can't help but want to keep listening, its powerful and strong start to the album, proving this is exactly how they respond after their 2016 release Power Plant.

“Torn” provides us with a dual vocal track, melding their harmonies together from both Matthias Götz and Anastasia Panagiotou creating a mesmerizing experience, pushing the limits to what you’d classify the band from Progressive metal to Melodic rock, they meld them together perfectly.

The hardest hitting track on the album and a true anthem for rock fans everywhere is “Fuckin’ Rock It” a solid heavy hitting guitar driven track giving you that push to keep going, follow through your goals and don’t give up, all while having fun and listen to the title and “Fuckin’ Rock It”.

Prime Time gives you everything you’d want and expect from RIZON, from heavy Melodic rock and a Progressive Metal shake up, along with a flip in the tempo with “Time Till Kingdom Come” a smooth blend of both vocals filled with emotion and soul, the track isn't lost in the mix, rather provides that calm needed and shakes up the listing well.

Mixing it up more and yet again surprising you, RIZON takes it to the next level with “Through The Fire” is a heavy hitter of a track, heavy in the terms that you could lose yourself headbanging through the track with the likes of IRON MAIDEN or ACCEPT. Yet remains strong in the Melodic rock sense as well, taking their skill and talent to the limit on each riff, each melody of the song.

Prime Time is a twelve track, strong Melodic rock masterpiece, one that keeps you wanting more and brings it. Not one track overshadows another, each build on the others. You could easily put this album on random and each would flow effortlessly from one to the other, without hesitation. Matthias Götz and Anastasia Panagiotou vocal strength equals one another and propels the album, each with their individual strengths building with the musicianship on the album. A truly unique and boundary pushing album that deserves to be praised and built upon.
