Shadow Circus - Welcome To The Freakroom (CD)

Shadow Circus
Welcome To The Freakroom
by Yiannis Zervos at 20 September 2007, 4:03 PM

If you are old enough, it is time to remember your childhood; if you are too young too remember GOLDEN EARRING you should sit down and listen to what SHADOW CIRCUS have to say. The old-school rock progressive scene is back with these five musicians from various states of the USA. Welcome To The Freakroom is the album that carries all the good memories of late 60's and 70's rock.
With the heavy presence of piano and hammond organ, keyboardist Richard Horn marks the sound of SHADOW CIRCUS by bringing out the feeling of YES, KANSAS, GENESIS plus with the beautiful vocals of Davis Bobick the result is something you do not expect from people that are in their 30's. Obviously they worked hard to mix and fit all of their influences into one 6-track CD.
The best moments of the album are the band's self-titled Shadow Circus song, with the circus sounds and laughs and the melody being transferred immediately to a rock n' roll circus situation, and Journey Of Everyman, an epic 12-minute song with all the atmosphere you can get, a musical journey through time with SHADOW CIRCUS and the bands that are printed into their DNA.
Overall SHADOW CIRCUS  with Welcome To The Freakroom are making a nice debut, and if you are missing bands like GOLDEN EARRING, ELP and KING CRIMSON you would think that there is hope for something new that you finally can listen to.
