Slave One – An Abstract and Metaphysical Approach to Deceit

Slave One
An Abstract and Metaphysical Approach to Deceit
by Riccardo Gaffuri at 25 November 2017, 8:36 AM

After their first full length back in 2016 “Disclosed Dioptric Principles,” French SLAVE ONE follow their momentum and are now out with this new EP “An Abstract and Metaphysical Approach to Deceit,” out for Dolorem Records: four tracks to engulf souls in fire and flames. SLAVE ONE are not to be underestimated: clean, technically keen but able to strip technicalities to the bone when it’s requested.  Their tracks eat the listener layer by layer, with unending intensity to work their path to his mind, with wave after wave piling up in the memory.

Releases like “An Abstract and Metaphysical Approach to Deceit” push ourselves to dig into the underground looking for gems like this, giving hope in the future of the scene. SLAVE ONE can both stand on a technical approach and more blaspheme terrains, showing how their influences were lessons for their style: DEATH, MORBID ANGEL and IMMOLATION all come to mind. Polished cogs flow seamlessly: Tunguska is the higher peak of this mechanism. “Through Illuminated Void and Meditative Resonance” and “Uroboric” should not be forgotten, as completion of this tryptic. As a coda, there’s room for a cover, DIMMU BORGIR “Blessings upon the Throne of Tyranny” stripped of black metal aura to be marked with SLAVE ONE signature.

All in all, it’s a well-played and well spent 25 mins EP for a band destined for greater things and a bright future.
