SONIC STATION is a melodic Rock band based on 80’s music and the west coast sound. They are said to be the
TOTO of the new millennium, quite a provocative phrasing I might add as
TOTO have always been in a top notch level.
“Next Stop”, via
Avenue Of Allies was just released to the streets sharing the band’s vintage doctrine of emotive, stadium Rock vibe. However, I wouldn’t necessarily call them the next
TOTO just yet anyway.
The two highest strengths of
“Next Stop” are
Alexander Kronbrink’s guitar playing and song composition in overall. The first track,
“Amelia” is a bit predictable and it seems like the band tried too hard to sound like their main influences, nothing too wrong, but also didn’t came out so well after all. However, it does give you a feel for what direction the album is going in. The next track,
“Catch Me If You Can” is more favorable with powerful guitar solos. I personally love to see females in any Rock or Metal band nowadays; it proves that this industry isn’t completely male dominated and that girls can do just what guys do.
Marika Willstedt’s vocals are showcased in
“Where Are You Now?” one of my favorites off of the release. The last track entitled
“Hide and Seek” tops off the album with more of
Willstedt’s passionate vocals. I was pleased overall with the entire album, although I wish more of the members had been given the opportunities to show off their skills and talent.
