Stormy Atmosphere
Pent Letters
by Katarzyna Zakolska at 13 January 2015, 9:04 PM

STORMY ATMOSPHERE is a progressive art Metal band from Israel. The band has existed since 2002, and in 2009 they released their first album, “Colorblind”, and in October 2014, a new album “Pent Letters”. In track "The Menippeah" from the new album, is special guest, Tom S. Englund (EVERGREY).

The opening track “Afterlight”, has nice guitars & great working bass, heavier riffs & progressive rate. Melodic keys with PORCUPINE TREE and DREAM THEATER influences. Strong male vocal sounds very nice with female vocalist. It is great duo of singing together vocalists. Gentle piano and high opera voice singing by female too – summing up, it is impressive building track. Very fast drums, keys, nice guitar riffs, amazing guitar solo and together singing is in great track called “Historical Adventure” and calmer atmosphere create by violin is in “Gothic Dread” where is brilliant duo vocals and fine choir!

In track "The Menippeah"  is special guest, Tom S. Englund (EVERGREY). From first sounds is listenable that here are magical sounds, keys, heavier riffs and great choir of men, also together with female vocal sounds nice. Fabulous instrumental track is “While”, where is perfect work of drums, keys, bass and guitars! Memorable and more tuning track “Outcome” is with rocking riffs, orchestra, opera vocal and in “Suspense” is many DREAM THEATER echoes in heavier guitars and fabulous gentle singing.

Interesting is “Hour” where nice riffs mix progressive rhythmic section, opera singing, keys in '80 years from the best progressive bands and melodic chorus singing by duo voices. Also nice is “Tragic Play” with theatrical sounds, fine keys and great working bass, classical singing & harder sounds. Gorgeous choir, great heavier riffs, progressive rhythm and really interesting perform is in “First Day”.

In “Science Fiction” are modern sounds together with progressive sounds and that give real kick-ass to this track! The bonus track “Time” is just masterpiece – it lasts over 14 minutes with pathetic climate, melodic guitars, massive keys in AERYON style and perfect work of rhythmic section, piano and singing in different styles.

Summing up, album of STORMY ATMOSPHERE is greatly done. Musicians connecting progressive Metal with symphonic elements, heavier riffs, melody and choir singing. I like their music and can't wait to see these Metallers from Israel on stage. I wish them good luck on their music way.  Every song has other scheme, other idea.  Generally their music would be love by listeners of PORCUPINE TREE and DREAM THEATER and for every heaviness lover who want to explore beauty in music.
