Suffering - Chaosatanas

Suffering
Chaosatanas

No, no, no… Not again!

Again, a good Black Metal band has its work impaired by an extremely raw production… And it’s a true pity, for SUFFERING, a trio from Poland, have a lot of potential, but the production really putted their first EP, “Chaosatanas”, in a very uncomfortable place…

And by what I could listen, the band has good musicians, with great harsh vocals, very good guitar riffs, and a pretty simple (but functional) rhythmic kitchen, making great music in SWOBM (don’t forget: Second Wave of Black Metal, the very same from earlier Norwegian bands like MAYHEM and BURZUM) way, but the production really put a lot of the EP out of reach…

The sound production is raw and putrid, but even to a band in these model of music there’s a minimum level of quality, and the “frying egg” sound for guitars really is annoying, and it’s placed “there behind”, almost hidden by drums. I know, I know: to some, being this way is being real, but to be real needs to do something this way?

Obviously it’s not a total loss, for songs like “Suicide for Satan”, “I Am Existence” and “Leviathan Rises” show a good name for future in Black Metal, a band that can be a very good name, but they need a better sound quality. It’s not to be like those from BEHEMOTH, DIMMU BORGIR or CRADLE OF FILTH, way far from them, but something more in “De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas” or “Under a Funeral Moon”. Being clear: harsh, but with a good quality (better than that would damage their music as well).

So, I prefer to ignore the sound quality for now, because they’re still a young band, and can evolve, and your Big Daddy wants a lot to hear more of them in the future.
