Temperance - Limitless

by Yngwieviking at 11 March 2015, 10:12 PM

After the great action movie with Bradley Cooper in 2011 entitled Limitless, the Italian rising stars in the European Modern Melodic Metal scene, TEMPERANCE, are back and they choose to use the same clever word as title for their sophomore release that will be released on March 31st, via reputed underground label, Scarlet Records.

The new album is stylistically the follow up to their critically acclaimed, self-titled debut album, sonically close to perfection. "Limitless" was mixed and mastered by renowned and ubiquitous musician/producer Simone Mularoni (DGM) at Domination Studio in San Marino, Italy.

The band is composed by experienced players, featuring the core of ex-members of BEJELIT and Marco Pastorino from SECRET SPHERE, also acting with the underrated, yet promising Metalcore band HATETYLER, playing as rightly described as an amazing mixture of tight heavy guitars, some dancing electronics loops, an always shifting metallic pace, a few Metalcore elements, uplifted by Symphonic arrangements, blended together in the same priority with the obvious harmonic tag at Melodic Power Metal.

However, the outstanding vocal performance of Miss Chiara Tricarico is a real uplifting element, with the addition of the antagonist interaction in the vocal duo and the ambitious songwriting, it’s the undisputed finest parameter for the future career of TEMPERANCE.

The musical demarche is indeed quite limitless, giving a fresh new perspective with some kind of ENGEL flavors, industrial riffs meets some outrageous Pop influences taken from AMARANTHE recipe with many contemporary orchestrations borrowed to WITHIN TEMPTATION and some harshness similar to SOILWORK or SCAR SYMMETRY with still a completely bombastic sonic design and an adventurous stylistic focus.

Produced by Giulio Capone and Marco Pastorino, the album isn’t perfect in the its full length, the late commercial “Goodbye” is still a little indigestible and “Amber & Fire” reveal a slightly repetitive formula, this defective method is also present elsewhere in smaller dimension (“Stay”).

Songs like “Mr. White”, the epic “Side By Side”, “Burning”, “Here & Now” and “Save Me”, are the most attractive numbers; it displays great enthusiasm and energy with skillful creativity, giving to the TEMPERANCE some Euro Power/Prog Metal tendencies in order to fulfill any picky (yet open-minded) headbanger’s desire.
