If
IRON MAIDEN,
GRAND MAGUS and
AMON AMARTH gathered together to create a love child, then LA Melodic Death Metal warriors
THE APPROACH AND THE EXECUTION would definitely fit this conclusive description. Their latest adventure
“Kings Among Runaways” is the reason why I am adamant in believing this.
Having banded together in the year 2009 they already have
“The Blood March” under their belts, which was released in 2011 and after a three-year hiatus they have released
“Kings Among Runaways”.The journey begins via opening tracks
“Warrior’s Psalm” and
“March Of The Guillotine (Blood March)”; these two epic chapters literally stop you in your tracks and make you want to rock out wherever you appear to be when listening to these. With the heroic Viking Metal vibe and amazing Melodic Metal,
AMON AMARTH spring to mind.
“Kings Among Runaways” encompassed many great qualities including sweeping melodies, original guitar work and incredible vocals. The vocal work was particularly a highlight for me; I really admired how the growls harmonise nicely with the clean vocals giving that extra punch to the music.
This album certainly made getting ready for work and walking there feel more heroic and grand; particularly on my personal favourite track
“The Plague Knows No Prejudice” with it’s rolling drums, sweeping guitar riffs that I can imagine thousands of metal heads swishing their long, glossy hair to. I thoroughly enjoyed the track on my way to work this morning.
“Ghost Pilot” provides the listener one last chance to let their inner Viking out before marking the end a remarkable escapade.
So from the compliments I provided about the latest release from
THE APPROACH AND THE EXECUTION I sincerely enjoyed
“Kings Among Runaways”. I would love to catch them at a live show so I can see some long hair swishing along to some of these outstanding tracks.
