The Gooch - Eyes Wide Shut

The Gooch
Eyes Wide Shut

It’s strange sometimes to see music’s evolution through time. Some bands and their works would never receive some attention back on the 80's or 70's, but nowadays, they’re commonly receiving great praise. And on good name this way is THE GOOCH, an experimental quintet, and their album “Eyes Wide Shut” for sure can earn them praises and respect.

It’s not really Metal in its conception, but a more experimental and explosive mix between Hard Rock and Rock N' Roll with some more modern musical insights, as clean guitars and a lot of other musical elements that are so great that we would not have space here to describe. It’s a kind of fusion of ALCEST’s best aspects (but not so boring and introspective) with some MUSE and others.

A good sound production makes their music sound clear, and as they do not use a heavy distortion in greater part of time, it’s good for everyone, making their music sound clear and all musical arrangements can be heard with no difficulty.

Their best moments: “Open the Gates” (a furious modern song, indeed, with good vocals and bass), the abrasive and hypnotic “Mother” (great guitars on this music), the more Pop-Orientated-Rock “Give Me Some”, and the bombastic “The Cage”. But the whole album is very good.

A good promise for a near future.
