The Graviators - Evil Deeds

The Graviators
Evil Deeds
by Daniel Silva at 27 September 2012, 6:13 PM

THE GRAVIATORS hail from the land that gave us great bands like AMON AMARTH, ARCH ENEMY, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, OPETH, CANDLEMASS, and more recently great new bands such as the awesome PARANORM, and the new Metal sensation GHOST. But do THE GRAVIATORS live up to their ancestors and contemporaries?

THE GRAVIATORS was formed in 2007 and released their self-titled debut album in 2009, EVIL DEEDS is their sophomore album, they play a sort of Doom / Stoner Metal with some heavily distorted sound with a little bit of Hard Rock / Rock N' Roll sound thrown in between (at least to my ears) especially in the song "A Different Moon",that reminded me a lot of the song "I Love Rock N Roll" made famous by Joan Jett. The album starts promising with the songs "Soulstealer", "Evil Deeds" and "Morning Star", but after it becomes a bit tiresome especially for its Stoner Metal influences which I am not very fond of, by no means is a “bad” album but certainly there is nothing special and remarkable about it.

So to answer my question in the beginning if they live up to their ancestors and contemporaries the answer would probably be “no”, when compared to them they don’t live up to that expectation.
