It’s no secret that
SENTENCED has been my favorite band since… I can remember, and it hurt me a lot when the band came to an end; and then Mr.
Vesa Ranta put the effort to make a new band:
THE MAN EATING TREE. The first time I heard them, I only thought this was the direction where
SENTENCED stopped, but after a few listens, it started to become clear to me that this was something different, more atmospheric, less melodic, darker, with
Ranta taking much more creative control than before, making a really good impression.
“Harvest”, their second album is only the confirmation of what I’ve said above, following a strong direction, catching the breath of the listener, letting the “long for more” feeling. A strong structure in the musicality, well-written lyrics, an excellent choice of their single
“Armed”, listening to this album could make you feel in a trip around your inner desires, emotions and sadness.
“Harvest” is very professionally done in every conceivable aspect: a perfect production, the playing is almost flawless; each and every song has everything you'd expect it to be.
All in all, it’s a very good production, even when it’s not something different or innovative, it doesn’t matter, just because after the first listening, you would forget what I wrote here, and start to focusing on the dark “soft” path they’re about to show you.
