Vampires are my favorite creatures of darkness and one of the greatest inspiration material to music, especially when it comes to gothic and dark music. Although I must admit that I hate the cheesy, cuddly vampires that hate their existence and whine about it for all eternity. Hopefully this is not the case with the new album of THE 69 EYES, Back In Blood. Back In Blood is the soundtrack to the vampire party of the year, the album begins hard rocking with the title song Back In Blood a heavy riffed waking call of the vampire king that comes back from his slumber and is ready to rock the night. A touch of early MOTLEY CRUE and SISTERS OF MERCY but only better and this is just the beginning. The fun continues with We Own The Night and the glasses begin to fill with bourbon and blood, the guitars fire up even more and bring forward the unique skills of Bazie and Timo Timo, a solid sound that continues throughout the whole album and supports perfectly the singing of Jyrki. We reached The Good, The Bad, & The Undead and the party is continuing hard and heavy, the band keeps mixing perfectly a glam undertone with gothic Rock to create a sound that might be the best THE 69 EYES have given to date. Things heat up when the band sings Dead Girls Are Easy which must be one of the best album tracks. Back In Blood is an album that combines the solid song writing and music performance of a band that knows what they are doing and they are doing it for 20 years now. There are no hollow moments and no weak spots here. The party goes on up until the last song where a surprise awaits. Eternal is the perfect closing theme to a night filled with blood, girls and Rock and a good example to Jyrkis vocal abilities. THE 69 EYES made a great album that not only fans of the band will enjoy. Back In Blood is here to add a little bit of flavor to the general tasteless modern vampires and show them that un-life can be fun.
