Experimentation and the will to mix different styles of music may lead to many things. Some of them are the result of creating a new cool musical genre, the failure of creating something interesting or the creation of something that has no identity and fails to balance between all those different styles of music. Anyway, I don't want to make you fall asleep with my long talk so I will just say that THE BLACKOUT ARGUMENT have fallen into the trap of creating something that has no identity. Simple as that…

I was never a fan of Lifeforce's releases and of course neither a fan of its bands. The new release I got from this label was the album I am reviewing right now. The German I-don't-know-how-to-call them band has only released two EP's through Bastardized before and this is their debut album. As I said before they seem that they haven't concluded to which is the style of music they prefer to play.

They try to mix things like the brutality of HATEBREED, the energy of THE OFFSPRING and the melody of LOST PROPHETS. Sorry if what I am comparing seems funny, but that's how it sounds to me. Now imagine a band that is not able to mix all those things together and you understand what THE BLACKOUT ARGUMENT are all about. The fact that this is their debut album is no excuse for me. Especially when much emo stuff are visible in this album.

The only good thing is that these guys don't have bad haircuts. I really wouldn't be able to deal with one more 100% emo band with stupid haircuts and more make up than POISON! Decide what you are going to do with this album by yourselves. I think that I already spent enough time with Decisions.
