Thrust - Harvest of Souls

Thrust
Harvest of Souls
by Kyle Scott at 04 May 2018, 12:06 PM

THRUST has been a part of the Metal scene for over thirty years (thirty-seven to be precise). No small feat, as only a handful of bands get to claim such longevity. After their first release, “Fist Held High”, they didn’t release another album until eighteen years later (and people complain about TOOL dragging their feet)! Recently making headlines for becoming signed to Pure Steel Records, THRUST has obviously been around in thirty-seven years, opening for bands like MOTORHEAD, JUDAS PRIEST, TWISTED SISTER, even Thrash Metal kings SLAYER. Just because they’ve been around for almost forty years, don’t think THRUST doesn’t know how to bring the heavy anymore.

Both “Deceiver” and “Immortal” blast the gate away on “Harvest of Souls”, with Earth-rattling riffs that must never be unattended lest they accidentally set fire to anything within playing range. THRUST has changed up their intensity throughout their years, sounding Punk one album and KREATOR-inspired Thrash the next. For their current album “Harvest of Souls”, the sound is their own. “Sorceress” however is a small throwback to their album “Fist Held High”, Eric Claro leading the vocals this time. Numerous riffs are churned out by Ron Cooke setting the track ablaze come solo time. “Shadow of the Cross” is a disturbing track about murdering someone with wailing guitars and false calm moments. Each track moves at a consistent pace, but the momentum is fervent, full of vitality. Eric Claro tears some pages from his last band SCARRED where he was the vocalist for their EP “Haunting Memories” back in 2009. Cooke is the only other member with another band known as DIRTYBREED.

THRUST is still packing heat with plenty of ammunition to go around with their furious-paced tracks. The band that will not languish quietly in obscurity (hell, they refuse to languish at all!), THRUST packs several punches in “Harvest of Souls”, recently released this month.
