Thulsa Doom - Realms of Hatred

Thulsa Doom
Realms of Hatred
by Kyle Scott at 27 December 2018, 11:49 AM

Another Death Metal band bravely steps into the ring to compete for Most Brvtal Death Band. Enter, THULSA DOOM from the Iconic city of Rome. Italy never fails to deliver on corrosive, undead sound from the grave. Considering that most of the history is steeped in blood and reeks of fetid death, it’s not hard to see why they pull off the sub-genre so well. THULSA DOOM is a chugging war beast that comes flying out of the gates that were threadbare to hold anything back at best to start, and sets forth to ripping up anything in their path.

From the opening song “The Final Scourge” THULSA DOOM shows all the classic signs of an introductory demo. A rough-around-the-edges recording that is proudly unclean and violent. The song has a clear SODOM “Agent Orange” vibe radiating off of it like a pound of yellow cake uranium. “The Gates of Niniveh (Woe to You City of Blood)” carries over its bass from “The Final Scourge” and ups the energy with high-flying riffs, V.K. Nail and F. Phantomlord catch fire to their fretboards as they shred.

The title track “Realms of Hatred” is a short instrumental track that comes rolling in like a stormcloud, billowing and consuming the horizon until it unleashes its awesome torrent of fury in “Demon Conjurer”. The eye of the storm during (the puzzlingly titled) “Intro” momentarily passes over giving a mere whiff of respite from the hell raining down on innocent people before plunging us back into the worst of the tempest in the final track named after the band itself “Thulsa Doom”. The final song leaves us drowning in a metric fuckton of chunky, muddy riffs. It goes without saying THULSA DOOM knows how to create one hell of a storm to ravage the countryside.
