Thyruz - Svik

Svik

The Norway’s underground still has some good names to reveal, no doubt about that, and the most traditional style is, of course, Black Metal, and the veterans of THYRUZ are back with their new album, “Svik”.

Their music is just the raw and aggressive Black Metal from the SWOBM, therefore, as it would seem, there is is no innovation at all, but these guys are together since 1999, so we must judge them according to this. And their work is really fine, in the vein of old DØDHEIMSGARD and MAYHEM, but with their personal touches and way to do things. It’s not so fast as new bands, but not as slow as some others, just traditional.

The production is in the same vein that a more tradition Black Metal fan can enjoy: underdone and dirty, but listenable. You can understand their music and proposal with no trouble, but the instruments are sounding that way we all love.

5 good tracks (“Podrita” is just an intro) come to our ears: the tenebrous “Dødsriket”, the faster (in a traditional way) “The Final Holocaust” (really, these guitar riffs are destructive!), “All Flesh” and its great vocal works, the long and slow “Svik” (with tempo great variations, showing a good work from bass and drums), and “Darkness Illuminates All”, all of them very good.

It was a 4 years of waiting since 2010’s “Diseblot”, but to their fans, of course it was not in vain. And to new ones, obviously it will make them buy a physical copy. Illegal downloads are for MP3 sissies.
