Tracer - Water For Thirsty Dogs

Water For Thirsty Dogs

Sometimes, when you're not in the right mood, you can find a good album, but really can't understand it on first hearing. I personally give this hint to everyone: give an album a second chance, and maybe you can find what you are looking for, even without knowing it. That's because bands as Australian trio TRACER can pass us by, and we can leave such a good album as "Water For Thirsty Dogs" without a deserved listening.

Here there's not musical revolution. No, they are doing only the old, good and nasty Rock-n-Roll/Hard Rock that we all heard from old Australian bands as AC/DC and ROSE TATTOO, mixing a good dose of filthy riffs with ferocious, and easy and hooking melodies. As well, you can feel a melodic influence from accessible bands as SILVERCHAIR here and there, but not as depressive as this. Good vocals and guitars, a solid rhythmic session and a work based on accessible songs is what they are about. The album's producer made a good work, for the sound quality is really what they need to put their music in a good shape for our ears. It's clean and accessible for every fan, but has that bit of essential dirtiness that a Rock/Metal band really needs. I must say that extreme Metal fans must stay away from this album, but for those who loves a melodic and nasty music, can hear songs as "Water for Thirsty Dogs", the energy flux from "We're Only Animals", and the savage and accessible "The Machine".

It's a good band, but it has potential to become better.
