Trench Warfare – Hatred Prayer

Trench Warfare
Hatred Prayer
by Brian "Metal" Morton at 06 July 2019, 8:20 PM

Coming to us from the great state of Texas is TRENCH WARFARE and their freshman album “Hatred Prayer”. The Death Metal band got it’s start in 2015. The band is comprised of Tony Goyang Jr on guitars, Jay Gorania on vocals, Jake Holmes on bass and Belgor on drums. Let’s take a listen to what “Hatred Prayer” is all about shall we?

It all begins with “Decimate Legions” which takes about thirty second to break into. This song is definitely old school as fuck. This is completely for fans of DEATH. It’s pretty intense and straightforward. “Spare No Wrath” is just as brutal as the previous song. The main thing that pops out to me are the guitars which are ear blowing and face shredding. I can really appreciate this song a whole lot.

“Axioms” sounds a bit chuggier which is always nice. The drumming on this song is sick as fuck as are the vocals. I think if they brought out the vocals a little bit more it would be perfect. “Barbarous Temperament” keeps this brutal Death Metal album rolling. It almost reminds me of older SUFFOCATION and the song Funeral Inception to be more specific. So for me this song was great. “Astral Projection” is a bit slower than the rest of the songs so far and much deeper. It’s almost on the verge of being a Doom song. I really enjoyed the time changes in the song as well.

Our halfway point on the album is the song “Evil Shall Triumph”. If you are a fan of blast beats this song is right up your alley. This song is much more in your face than it’s predecessors. So far this is the best song on the album. If you are looking to wreck your ears put this song on at full blast and be prepared to have a bit of hearing loss. “Behead Muhammad” is the next one up and it does not disappoint in the slightest. Now I will say this, the song is really good, but I really hate when bands have to use titles like this. I think it’s a cop out because you could definitely come up with a song title that’s just as edgy without having to use religion as a crutch.

“Young Lord” is slightly different from the rest of the songs on the album. I can’t really put my finger on exactly what’s different, but it works. Also the song is only fifty six seconds long. “New Lord” is way slower and more evil sounding than anything so far. This is probably the darkest song on the album. There are three more songs on the album “Blood Cleansing” “Sate Thy Lust” and “Hatred Prayer” but I think I got the gist of the album. All in all it’s pretty damn good. I think with a few more years the band will be even better. Good luck guys!
