Trenchant - Commandoccult

by Craig Rider at 19 May 2022, 5:42 AM

Metal maniacs, rejoice! I am proud to present to you: TRENCHANT; signed via Goz Ov War Productions, hailing from the United States of America - performing Blackened Death Metal, on their debut full-length studio album entitled: “Commandoccult” (released March 11th, 2022). Since formation in 2016; the trio in question have only demo entitled: “Martial Chaos” (released May 1st, 2018), and this here debut full-length studio album in their discography so far entitled: “Commandoccult” of which I am introduced to. 9 tracks ranging around 42:29; TRENCHANT arrange an intricately designed formula on some heavy-hitting Blackened Death Metal developments.

Opening up with this noisy warfare of terrifying retribution; this horrific introduction within the titular track bludgeons eardrums with rampantly rompy mayhem, as drum bashing brutality belts a clobbering foundation in blistering distortion and gnarly blasphemy. A snarly scour from hammering batterer GRA rambunctiously piledrives the set with steely yet punchy precision, until unraveling these monstrously meaty rhythms that slay with lacerating grinds and killer trembles that rumble speakers with reverberating malice. Unearthing this spectral wave of contorted intensity, an amplified chunk fabricates a groovy swerve which unleashes sturdy tightness & thudding meatiness of monstrous proportion. Consisting guitarist/vocalist NRS showcases this sulfurous remedy on monolithic tempo & trailblazing solos that manifest with rapidly swift nimbleness amongst a dexterously dynamic distinction in which thunders with raw rough pandemonium while ruthless virtuosity utilizes vehement versatility for good measure.

Burning Spires Of Mercury” forges drum cymbal chaos, as crescendo rowdiness smacks you with full force impact as melodic maelstrom thumpiness from audible bassist TND distills a flickering aesthetic in extreme adrenaline and amplified bounciness, stridently skyrocketing with boisterously distinguished momentum of sonically seamless strife. Until “Darkwater Graves” begins with this alarming hook in which rips with this striking pursuit on speedy yet volatile patterns of tremolo towering malignance, motoring with tremoring quakes and fierce firepower expertise that will make you want to break chairs over other chairs in no time. Trampling souls with nothing but a drilling but immensely intense blow, bellowing gutturals ferociously growl with raspy throatiness and grunty barks, soaring with concretely gritty venom which roars with wrathful rampage while piercing through you with berserking barbarism.

Yellow Cross Orison” merges that crisp Blackened Death Metal sound with profusely robust sludginess, a crisp but empowering guitar chisel soon overarches with more hostile aggression and adroit bestiality. While the “Trumpets Of Jericho” implements an intriguing element of trumpet playing furore amongst a disfiguring plague that bombastically intrudes, until nuclear bombs desecrate those sounds with explosive abhorrent & salubriously radical wickedness amongst a flexibly fundamental artillery on implosive onslaughts of oppressive perseverance. Persistently subjugating you with evil but diabolical hysteria, maniacal viscerality and bulldozing attributes within the “Atrocity Vision” smothers you with relentless technicalities on progressive tactics that ramify with symbolic rebellion while deathly but vicious tonality beats down with systematic methods on remorseless mayhem that will unravel an abyss of mosh pit etiquette in no time.

Wardrivers” volleys on with more maddening thrashiness, where resounding echoes grumble with tormenting demolition and blitzkrieg severity. The impressive atmosphere of this subgenre fuses Black/Death Metal massively well, you can hear the wildly rushing yet uproarious agility and disorienting havoc in Black Metal & the gruesome Death Metal tremolo patterns very well, as an experimental hybrid brilliantly culminates these two with coherent acquisition - engraved profoundly within the penultimate track “Pyre At The Tarn” (an awesome MOLESTED cover) while overall concluding “Commandoccult” with the finale epic “In The Fires Of The Night” which is an 8 minute spectacle of stampeding blasphemy. Bottom line; I am compelled to say that TRECHANT most surely outdone themselves with this one, an enjoyably entertaining slice of Blackened Death Metal malevolence will surely start your day off rightly.

A solid slab of smothering thickness rivets with satanic tyranny & repulsive filth awaits you with this one, worthy of spinning while replaying a good few times - while worth hammering along to should you fancy a healthy dose on some virulent savagery on sinister mettle segregation, do check it out.
