Trial - Sisters of the Moon Award winner

Trial
Sisters of the Moon
by "Metal Mark" Garcia at 30 January 2021, 7:36 AM

Back in the past, it was usual for bands to release Singles with two or three songs to divulgate a coming album, something to warm up the market, to prepare the fans. But such strategy was left in the past, because the age of the CDs and now of the digital music formats eroded the idea. But some bands still releases Singles on vinyl format for the fans (and collectors), and “Sisters of the Moon”, the latest release of TRIAL (SWE) is one of them.

This Single is composed by two versions of old songs from known names, so the best thing to do to have an idea of what they do is to check older releases. And done that, the listeners will be able to catch the right idea: the Swedish quintet is a Heavy Metal band with a clear appeal for the 70’s and 80’s musical format. But they do the right thing: to do things on their own, so the old form gains a new life on their hands. And these two songs are pay homage to two of their greatest musical influences.

Recorded during the COVID-19 pandemic with Olof Berggren working as producer, and taking care of the recording, mixing and mastering, he gave the band a modern and defined sound (anyone will understand what’s being played by the band), but with the organic insight of the past as well.

As said above, this single presents two old and famous songs on personalized versions created by the quintet: “Sisters of the Moon” (an old FLEETWOOD MAC song, here presented in a heavier way, because the weight of the guitars creates an oppressive feeling, but without destroying the melodic appeal of the original song), and “Die Young” (a known song from the masters of BLACK SABBATH during the years that Ronnie James Dio sang on the band, showing the same energetic appeal, here with excellent vocals and a heavy work on bass guitar and drums, honoring the fathers of Metal).

All that’s left to say is that “Sisters of the Moon” honors the original bands, and shows the potential of TRIAL.
