Spewing metal from Melbourne, Australia is
TRIGGER who has released their recent debut album,
“Cryogenesis.” If you listen to
IN FLAMES,
TRIVIUM,
TESTAMENT and
IRON MAIDEN,
TRIGGER might be the band for you!
“Cryogenesis” boasts with ten tracks clocking in at fifty-three minutes of pure Australian metal. It is catchy and will hook and reel you in. The album opens up with
“The Forge of Hepaestus” featuring fast thrashing riffs, throbbing bass lines, aggressive drumming and vocals that alternate between brutal and melodic. No doubt this is the heaviest track on the album.
Moving on to the next track,
“Dead Sun” is a little different, it has more of that
TRIVIUM-like
, traditional influence to it.
“Echoes Of The Silenced,” is heavy yet melodic and the tempos are constantly changing making it a complex yet uplifting track that keeps the listener intrigued. Fast forward to
“Tethered To The Tide,” this is probably one of my personal favorite tracks on this album. It is melodic, heavy and bursting with energy. It keeps my head banging and makes me want to punch things. Open up a pit, folks! Things start to take a slow yet brooding, heavy turn with “Dysphoria” and finishes strong with
“Veins of Ambrosia.” Those riffs and vocals give me goosebumps!
So overall, this is a good album. I haven’t heard much from
TRIGGER, and I am just starting to learn more about them but from what I am hearing, there is absolutely great potential. What I like about this album is that every track is distinct from the other–each track is unique. There isn’t much repetition and recycling of the same riffs that I sometimes hear on other albums that leave me bored and uninterested. I appreciate the variety!
