Truth Corroded - The Saviours Slain Award winner

Truth Corroded
The Saviours Slain
by Lex Mishukhin at 16 December 2013, 5:07 PM

Since becoming a writer for this great magazine, I've had the pleasure of constant surprises, Some are due to my own ignorance in a way, take Australia's TRUTH CORRODED for example, a band that's been around since 1997, and released its first EP back in 1999, since then they've released 2 EP's and the album I'm about to review is their 5th full length release, they're even signed to AFM Records, a major player, and yet, I've never heard of them until now, and that's a real shame, because what I heard after clicking play, truly blew me away. The intro was a rather MEGADETHish political ramble, so I was expecting to hear something in the vein of MEGADETH, and holy hell was I ever wrong.

"They Are Horror" which is the actual opening track blew all my preconceived notions out the window, don't get me wrong, it's still Thrash Metal, but it's one of the most aggressive versions of the genre I've heard in a long time, harsh vocals, super-fast riffs, and excellent melodic guitar work, turn this into something different, just listen to "The Fall Endless", brutal, just fun brutal, and that's to be honest, was exactly what I wanted to hear, Dave Mustaine hasn't written anything this good in at least 3 albums. The band uses the aggression of SLAYER, along with the faster and more brutal version of Thrash / Speed introduced by German legends like KREATOR, to make a sound entirely of their own, while still remaining well within the basic genre. A personal favorite of mine is "Of Gods Drowned In Blood" a melodic and rather slow intro with a terrific double bass line leads to a classic sounding thrash metal gem. Indeed this is the type of thrash metal album I want to hear, and in all honesty, expect to hear in 2013.

Excellent musicianship along with a fresh yet classic sound makes this album stand out in today’s Thrash Metal scene.
