Tsorer - Return To Sodom

Return To Sodom
by Yiannis Dafopoulos at 07 October 2010, 7:10 PM

Formed in late 2006, the Israeli Black Metal band unleashes its debut album “Return To Sodom” through the German label Black Hate Productions. Tom Davidov’s other band/project (or whatever the hell it is) HELL DARKNESS has been voted “band of the week” by DARKTHRONE’s Fenriz so I was kind of pumped up about what I was going to face in here.

It seems that Fenriz saw something in this guy’s work and I have to admit that the Norwegian Black Metal legend was right after all. TSORER’s music is nothing groundbreaking, but surprisingly it captured me from the very first seconds. With raw, old school tunes influenced by DARKTHRONE, CRAFT and CELTIC FROST, the Israeli one man band is sure to provide unholy pleasure to those who dare to listen to it. “Return To Sodom” somehow manages to retain this Rock & Roll feeling, while also incorporating this dark and cold vibe with Davidov’s hellish screams. The sound is also totally raw and “filthy”, but it remains clean and heavy enough (for the specific genre of course) so as the music can keep its “underground” atmosphere.

Enough said here. I guess whoever needs to listen to this album has already understood it. Suggested only to those who are into the classic Black Metal sound with more mid tempo moments and primitive sound. Horns up!
