Uncrossed - Deletio (CD)

by Michael Dalakos at 20 March 2006, 10:00 PM

Oh my God! Can someone please force the chief editor to not allow such releases to reach my office? Do I have a I love N.U. Metal / Metalcore sign on my forehead? Not only do I have to stand all the crap coming out of Metal Blade these days, now I have to do a review for this Russian act that probably wants to be a part of Metal Blade's roster. Why not? After all Metal Blade seems to like signing all these Metal bands lately.
Uncrossed have a website in Russian. Nice, now where on Earth am I supposed to find the info I want? Anyway. Their music surprisingly is divided into two parts. The first part is a very interesting Progressive / Fusion / lots of jazzy groove. This part I like. To be honest, if these guys stuck to this kind of music, I would have definitely thumbed them up. Unfortunately that's where the ouga-bouga vocals kick in and ruin the good impression I had. Not to mention the down tuned guitars that, oh my, sound like another 5,678,452 bands I've heard (half of them are Metal Blade releases…). Why, oh WHY?
Uncrossed had something wonderful in their hands yet they managed to ruin it with all these crappy aggressive parts. Too bad because the album has a very good production and, as I mentioned earlier, if they have stuck to their more experimental side then they would definitely be winners. Oh well…
