Uncut – From Blue

From Blue
by Brad Pfundheller at 17 December 2019, 9:44 PM

UNCUT is a Rock band coming all the way from Poitiers, France, and they are here with their EP release “From Blue”. According to their Facebook, the trio got started around 2016 and is currently on tour in France promoting this release. There isn’t a lot of information on the internet about this band, besides maybe social media, so I am assuming this is their first album release but don’t quote me on that.

The first song on the EP is “Blue Eyes Lover” and you can tell that these guys have their influences from American Rock N Roll from the 1960’s or 1970’s. The guitar playing really reminds me of some JIMI HENDRIX style, and it is amazing.  “Bee Blues” has a solid bassline running through the verses.  The overall feel of the song could definitely bring some nostalgia to somebody hearing these classic sounds from a new album going into the year 2020. “Deandra” begins with a catchy guitar riff and when the vocals enter the guitars continue with the bluesy type licks. “Snake Boogie” shares a lot of what “Deandra” had. A catchy guitar riff played throughout, along with a consistent drum beat with fills.

“Blue Eyes Lover (Unplugged)” is the exact same song as the first one, but as the title states, its “unplugged” so it’s a more of a raw recording. The same goes for “Bee Blues (Unplugged)”. The final track on the EP is “Gold Digger Woman” and the lyrics describe the title all the way through. Once again, there is another catchy guitar riff at the beginning that’s repeated on the verses. Not too bad of a track all together.

After listening to “From Blue” I am quite impressed to see that bands and artists are still going for the classic Rock N Roll genre that was achieved and at its peak in the 1970’s before bands either went to glam rock or heavy metal as the genres progressed. This band preserves the sounds of the original Woodstock era of music and I think that if you’re into that type of sound, then you will most likely love UNCUT.
