Vanderlust – Vanderlust Award winner

Vanderlust
Vanderlust

Formed in 2019 Italian born VANDERLUST label themselves as a cosmic metal band and release their self named debut album "Vanderlust" in 2022. The bands roots come from the likes of Megadeth and Iron Maiden, so you tend to build a picture of what they are about. Along with the main 3 instruments the tracks on the album also feature keyboards and synthesisers, giving an added spacey addition to them. The first track ‘Intro’, is basically as it says a minute lasting track with spoken vocal work introducing you to the musical journey you’re about to partake in.

The second track ‘High Hopes’, is delivered at a fast pace and a very catching chorus that unknowingly grips you as the album moves on with the third track Orphan Planet, kicking off with a very spacey piece of keyboard work before entering with a hard hitting drum/guitar explosion. It keeps a great tempo throughout the track and has a forcible way that keeps you tense Track four ‘Forgotten Breed’, goes into a more deeper rock deliverance with touches of grunge. The drums of Giacomo Mezzetti deliver a well timed beat throughout the track, its a well worked track that will appeal to both metal and grunge fans. The guitar work of Francesco is well worked and is catchy, definitely worth listening to.

The fifth track on album ‘The Last Ganymedian’, opening with acoustic guitars surprises you, just when you think that this track is going to be a more slower timed ballad typed track…bam and it delves into heaviness right through the track. Track six ( my personal favourite track on the album) ‘Scavengers Of the Kuiper Belt’, starts with a spacey synth rendition before setting off like an express train, very fast and catchy throughout. Sudden stops then back into the lightning pace definitely gets your head nodding along. It is a track that will certainly grab you and will see you reach for the track repeat button.

I’m going to end revue there and leave yourselves to hopefully discover the second half of the album, i promise you will enjoy it. I hope what I’ve given you is enough to grab your attention and make you want to give it a listen. Believe me you certainly wont be disappointed. These guys hopefully are going to have a great life in the realms of metal, they certainly have the makings for it, and I wish them all the best for the future.
