Vault of Acanthus is a five-piece band from Aigio, Greece that came to fruition early in 2011 and released their first full-length album,
“An Acanthus Tale” in August of 2013.
Vault of Acanthus presents four tracks of beautiful symphonic metal in a little under half an hour.
“An Acanthus Tale” is brought to life by a tight instrumental section and with
Aggeliki Antoniadi’s stunning vocals,
Vault of Acanthus is on their way to becoming a heavy force in the symphonic metal scene. The title track,
“An Acanthus Tale” starts with a slow piano melody that steadily rolls into a fast paced, epic riff. Combine the already amazing riff with distorted bagpipe effects creates one of the fiercest symphonic melodies I have heard.
“From Now On” is my favorite track on the album; it takes the typical symphonic metal style but adds harder metal elements.
“From Now On” is a perfect example of what
Vault of Acanthus has to offer and stands the tallest of the four tracks. It also features some brilliant use of the keyboard’s “choir” setting with some raging, blasting drumbeats to create a killer breakdown.
“Miserable Battle” is a poetic track that retains
Vault of Acanthus’s high-energy spirit but carries a more somber tone than the preceding tracks. The final track,
“The Others Are Gone” is the slowest track on the album and successfully carries the high-energy album into a mellow, satisfying ending.
An Acanthus Tale is extremely exciting and well done, check them out, you won’t be disappointed.
