Vert - Accepting Denial (CD)

Accepting Denial
by Yiannis Dafopoulos at 19 July 2007, 1:18 AM

Coming across some modern Metal stuff can be pretty risky. First of all, it requires that you are not against the modern sound and you can listen to almost anything. You have to be prepared and have balls of steel to stand still. VERT is one of the cases that some of you may hate and some of you may like. It depends on your age and of course your taste.

British metallers VERT are one of Casket's classic releases. They are based on Nu Metal and add elements like Grunge and a bit of Stoner. In my humble opinion, their main influence seems to be the Nu Metal pioneers KORN. There are also some times when VERT remind me of groovier and more melodic bands like STAIND and GODSMACK. Melody and groove are VERT main components after all! The classic mix of clean and distorted vocals is also here, reminding us that even modern bands tend to be common. The production is really good, because let's not forget that a band in this genre that doesn't have a good production is nothing.

VERT may have managed to support bands like SKINDRED and MENDEED, their album may be a pleasant way to spend 53 minutes (not a good duration for an album), but Accepting Denial is not the album I would spend my money to buy. Young people may enjoy it for some time until a new catchy and easy listening sound shows the way, but I am not one of them.
