Witch Casket – Punishment Award winner

Witch Casket
by Brian "Metal" Morton at 17 December 2018, 6:43 AM

Hailing from the wondrous land of Los Angeles, California comes WITCH CASKET and their second EP released in 2018 “Punishment”. The progressive Blackened Death Metal band formed in 2013 and I am really happy I ended up with this EP. The band sings about subjects such as, dark philosophy, aggression and chaos theory. For only being eighteen minutes long and having only four tracks, this EP is absolutely amazing! And the music video for “Punishment” is fucking hilarious so I recommend watching it ASAP! The first song is called “So It Goes” and is a wonderful way to blast into the album. The Guitar work played by Nylock and Scathe is fucking phenomenal. As well as the Drums played by Kaspars and Bass played by Aramis. And the vocals are immaculate from both Drogoth and Nylock.

The self titled song “Punishment” is fucking incredible. The whole song has you on the edge of your seat from the moment it begins. Everything about this song is absolutely perfect. The riffs on this track feel like they are peeling the flesh from your face and exposing your skull. I feel like the song killed me and brought me back through a baptism in hellfire. I cannot believe they don’t have a full length album out yet. But believe me, the moment it comes out I will be one of the first to purchase it. I am refraining from punching a hole straight through my laptop. This song is hard as fuck! Easiest way to describe this song is GOD DAMN!

The third song on the album is called “Water” and it’s completely different from the previous songs. It’s heavy as fuck but is almost upbeat but solemn at the same time if that makes any sense. I am honestly really glad they can switch it up and still sound brilliant. I highly recommend this song. Sadly we are at the end of the album with the final track “Spectres of Misery”. This was a perfect way to end this EP. The song is just as wonderful as the previous three. I dont think I can pick a favorite off the album. This song though is a little more epic than the others. I have absolutely fallen in love with this band. I really need more! Great work guys keep up the great work!
