Eternal Rot – Putridarium

Eternal Rot
Putridarium

ETERNAL ROT is a Doom Death Metal band from UK and Poland that mixes up both styles with a cavern vocals. They have recently released their newest album “Putridarium” and that is what we are going to talk about.

The opening song from the album is “Downward Among the Departed” that starts out with a heavy rain, thunders and a child scream. It took me a while to get to figure out that the vocals is that annoying thing that keeps going on with the song. There are a lot of distortion that mixed with the vocals made it a little bit hard to listen to.

Serenity Through Maniacal Flagellation With Decomposing Limbs” starts with a beautiful ambient sound and what seems to be a bird. The instruments comes in and they sound all messed up, there is a good riff on it but just that… “Endless Stream of Coffins” starts again with a nice ambient sound but it is soon turned into a massive nonsense mixture of extremely distorted guitars and vocals. This song has a few good guitar riffs and the vocals sounds good sometimes.

Descend Into Torment” is the song that closes the album and it starts with the traditional noises and a lot of different things that gives you anxiety and just feel nonsense. These song has the best vocals, guitar riffs and drums from the whole album, which is something good actually. There are a few groove on it and I liked it.

ETERNAL ROT have written and released an album that there are a lot of stuffs going on and almost none of them are good. The mixing and mastering quality made the audition way harder, since all the instruments have extremely distorted tune and the vocals are something that you can get what it is sometimes, but most of the time you can’t even figure out that if it was the vocals or the distortion coming from the instruments. I am pretty sure that the musicians have a good technique and that they are good musicians, but I don’t believe that this album shows that. Maybe next album with a different approach it would work out better.
