While writing songs for their first full album, BORN AGAIN precedes their debut with the release of this interesting 7” single. Led(?) by the charismatic Polish singer Marta Gabriel (CRYSTAL VIPER), the quartet also features STORMWITCH, VALLEY’S EVE, MYSTIC PROPHECY, ROUGH bassist Martin Albrecht, guitarist Björn Daigger (CIVILIZATION onE, DAWNRIDER, MAJESTY) and Marta’s companion in CRYSTAL VIPER Tom Danczak (ex-DARZAMAT, DRAGON). OK, two songs are not an adequate sample to judge on the band’s overall level but surely can pass a broad message through.


For those familiar with CRYSTAL VIPER’s music let’s say BORN AGAIN’s style is not that much differentiated. “Neverending Fire” is a melodic/epic Metal tune with a tranquil tempo and some beautiful keys backing Marta’s ‘heroic’ performance. Even if there was no lineup information available I’d bet there’s some similarities to STORMWITCH’s mid-career works in this sing. A beautiful number, indeed, with a romantic solo and an overall warm atmosphere fans of melodic (not sissy) European Power Metal should not ignore. “One Question”, on the other hand, is more of a typical fast pace song with its double bass drumming and hurricane guitars; a nice cut with a notable bridge and some elegant lurking keys parts giving color to the song’s speed. Not as impressive as the same-title number, let’s say “One Question” has a more in-your-face character.


OK, test passed. Vinyl lovers can – as usual – order the 7” single via High Roller Records (limited to 500 copies - 150x yellow vinyl & 350x black vinyl) and let’s hope a normal album will not be far away from now.
