Carnalation
Doomsday Diaries
by Yiannis Dafopoulos at 11 November 2010, 5:11 PM

CARNALATION is a pretty fresh band (formed in 2008) that has managed several stuff despite its 2 years of activity. The Finnish quintet has already released a self titled demo CD in 2009, as well as this brand new EP, both self released. They have also managed to play in several festivals like Provinssirock and Nummirock. Let’s see what this “Doomsday Diaries” is all about.

First of all I was kind of enthusiastic since when I see the words Finnish and Grindcore together I am somehow sure that the result will kick ass. Let’s not forget that Finland has offered great extreme bands like ROTTEN SOUND, DEATHBOUND, TO SEPARATE THE FLESH FROM THE BONES and more. CARNALATION seem to be another fine example of the Finnish Grind/Death scene with “Doomsday Diaries” being a really good EP full of our beloved noise, blasts, poisonous guitars and a really good vocalist who can handle screams and growls equally well! The influences are almost unavoidably coming from ROTTEN SOUND and the rest of the Finnish scene, even though CARNALATION seem to have some slight Death Metal fragments that make their sound unique and take the “wannabe” tag away right from the start.

Thumbs up for the clear and heavy production and the George Carlin samples in “2000 Years”. I hope they find a label soon and release a full-length album.
