The Italian band Kingcrowstarted half an hour earlier, so even though we did arrive on time, we still missed them. However we were on time to catch the 2nd support act, the Belgian band Max Pie. Skilled players who did a great job and who did get a nice response from the audience, not only because they were entertaining, but also because they were skilled and catchy. One of their songs even did get me touched in a way that made me feel tears in my eyes. Guess that being a support act is not always easy, simply because the audience is there for the main act, but Max Pie did gave their best and that did count. Later on I did get to meet them in the audience while JOP was playing and they turned out to be very friendly and great to have around.

Then it was Jon Oliva’s Painturn to get on stage and o boy, did I enjoy their show. The atmosphere inside the audience was great,Jon Oliva’s Painwas relaxed and did a great job with their trip down to memory lane concert. They played the entire “Hall Of The Mountain King”album and more. They even played “Don’t Talk To Me”fromDoctor Butcherand Jon Oliva kindly mentioned the part Chris Caffery had in writing that song. Jonalso mentioned Matt LaPorte and Criss Oliva, simply because they are still remembered and missed, also by people in the audience. For me it was the 1st time I did see JOPpreform without Mattand I missed him, not that the new guys were bad, in the contrary, they did a great job just like the rest of JOP. Jon‘s a great entertainer and also this time. He made time for the ones who are missed, did talk, fooled and joked around in between and during the songs, while audience responded awesome and showed a lot of love and respect for Jonand JOP. I sure had a wonderful time.
