SPIRIT OF LAO DAN: A Prog Metal project with wise words and mega vocalists!

Added 06 July 2021, 3:04 PM

After various instrumental albums and the latest 'Glenn-Miller'-swing-rock-album, it was clear to Raimund Burke, that there had to be another album that really pounds!

The idea was born: Laozi meets Metal!

Name: Raimund Burke's SPIRIT OF LAO DAN
Album title: Secret Life
Genre: Progressive Metal

This time with world class singers: Roland Grapow, Oliver Hartmann, David Readman, Henning Basse, Sebastian Zierof, Christian Erik, Rasmus Andersen.

The resulting 11 song album, typical for Raimund, was recorded and produced himself, while retaining the sound of a well-rehearsed band. Even going as far as developing the vocal melodies himself. The result is a production that is on par with any major label release.

As it should be for professional Prog Metal, Raimund doesn’t skimp on virtuoso parts, borrowings, gimmicks and interesting interludes, which are reminiscent of a mixture of Dream Theater, Deep Purple, Michael Schenker, Uli Jon Roth and Yngwie Malmsteen, always done in a balanced way that is serving to the song and implemented with feeling.

Some surprises are also hidden here. Unexpectedly, Chinese instruments appear every now and then in the middle of the song. As all songs are connected by intros and outros that were played with traditional Chinese instruments.
The chinese spoken album intro (based on a top template by Jan Silberstorff) was performed by Raimund Burke.

The songs offer a very wide, powerful range of outstanding vocal performances and interesting, virtuoso, fast paced and soulful instrumental parts! And in all of this, it shows clearly what this album is about; the profound wisdom of Laozi!

The result is a top production that guarantees pure listening pleasure.
And furthermore every album sale supports the aid organization ‘WCTAG-hilft’ with 1 €.

This concept album will be self-distributed with the support of cdbaby and in collaboration with Timezone Records.
