Goatwhore - Carving Out The Eyes Of God (CD)

Goatwhore
Carving Out The Eyes Of God
by Yiannis Dafopoulos at 29 July 2009, 5:41 PM

From the very first days of this album's release I noticed many people talking about it and since I am a fan of GOATWHORE there is no way I would miss the chance to review it. Carving Out The Eyes Of God is one more GOATWHORE masterpiece filled with their unique hellish sound. I didn't even have second thoughts if it was going to be a good album; it was definitely going to be a great one!

I first came across the US maniacs when they released A Haunting Curse and got their breakthrough. Alchemy Of The Black Sun Cult was - and is - a song that belongs to my daily playlist. Still a member of Metal Blade and obviously one of their most brutal acts, GOATWHORE strike with fourth full-length assault proving that their inspiration has not yet drained. It seems we have a long way to go and we are going to see many things from them.

If you haven't had the chance to listen to any of their stuff, I can simply tell you that GOATWHORE is the perfect combination between Death Metal's brutality, Black Metal's grimness and atmosphere and Thrash Metal's catchiness. Imagine a bastard child between BELPHEGOR, WITCHERY and CARPATHIAN FOREST. Yes, they may be brutal as fuck but they are fucking rocking & rolling! Venomous guitars, pounding drums and THE beast Ben Falgoust (also in SOILENT GREEN) are only of the few satanic elements that make this ritual sound like a Rock & Roll party! No matter if you are searching for groovy tunes or furious blasts with insane guitar shredding, you will find it all here compressed in approximately 40 minutes. Oh, and let me add here that ultra heavy sound, courtesy of Erik Rutan (producer) and Alan Douches (mixing).

I guess that the NOLA scene can always offer some more than pleasant surprises and GOATWHORE is definitely one of them! I advice you to immediately go and check this little filthy gem out, I am sure you won't be disappointed. All hail the goatwhore!
